The translation of the book “Flights”, written by the acclaimed Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk, was listed among the finalists for the most important American literary prize, the “National Book Award” in the category of translated literature.

The shortlist for the award was announced on Wednesday.
In May the translation of “Flights”, by Jennifer Croft, was awarded the International Booker Prize, the most important British literary prize.
This year is the first time since 1983 that the jury will pick a work in translation for an award.
"This year instead of just celebrating the best American literature, we're celebrating the best literature in America," the executive director of the National Book Foundation, Lisa Lucas told NPR.
The winners will be announced on November 14.
